A case of tinea corporis purpurica.Kim HS, Cho BK, Oh ST St Mary's Hospital, Seoul, Korea. We present a case of tinea corporis purpurica localized to the legs of a 47-year-old woman. Trichophyton rubrum was the aetiological agent. So far, only a single report has been made on tinea corporis purpurica. Although the exact mechanism of purpura formation is unknown, we postulate the virulence of the fungal strain and host immune response to play a role. Published 19 June 2007 in Mycoses, 50(4): 314-6.
